After four years as CEO - Mårten is moving on to new adventures
After having held the CEO post at Minc for four years, Mårten Öbrink is moving on to the former Minc company Orbital Systems, taking up the role of CTO and executive board director. Orbital Systems started its journey in the Minc incubator almost four years ago, and Mårten has been an official advisor at the company since.
“It’s quite special working so closely with the companies. You become particularly close to some of them, and that’s been the case with Orbital. I feel now is the right time to step into an executive role, though obviously it’s never easy to leave a job you love”, Mårten Öbrink says.
At the same time, he points out that Minc has had an amazing journey since he joined as CEO:
“We have seen incredible development at Minc over the last four years. Just since I got here, we’ve started Fast Track Malmö and its venture capital fund Fast Track Capital, we’ve also set up Startup Labs, which makes it possible for anyone to get free office space to work on their idea for up to six months. To top it all off our companies secured over 88 million SEK in venture capital and other types of financing last year, a record high by far. It feels sad leaving, but Minc is on a roll and it’s time for the next challenge”, says Mårten.
Minc’s incubator helps early stage companies to grow and scale through business development, coaching, and matchmaking. For the new CEO to have experience in building companies is something that is important to the board:
“Mårten is an entrepreneur at heart and that’s why we wanted him at Minc to begin with. It’s not all that surprising to see him go to a former Minc company - he’s great at growing companies and we’re really happy we got to keep him at Minc for as long as we did” says Pehr Andersson, chairman of the board at Minc.
Minc’s board will initiate the process of recruiting a new CEO, with the goal of having the new CEO installed later this spring.
