Herman, welcome to Minc! What inspired you to join our team and how do you see yourself making an impact here at Minc?

What really drew me to Minc was the unmistakable energy. Being around people who aren't just dreaming but doing - that’s where I thrive. Entrepreneurs buzzing around, ideas flying. And me? I’ve been in those shoes, hustling, pivoting. My toolkit’s filled with tech leadership and strategic consulting. I’ve lived the startup grind. I'm here to dive deep into the challenges our entrepreneurs face, share my journey, and hopefully, light the way for them.

Minc thrives on innovation and bold ideas. Can you tell us about a time when you had to think outside the box and what impact did it have?

‍

I have a hard time giving you a perfect (and cool) example of me thinking outside the box but I would say that in the context of developing a startup, thinking outside the box is your constant. This is because what you are trying to achieve is either something no one has done before, or to do something a little bit better than what exists on the market. Therefore thinking outside the box is something I have tried to do a million times during the last couple of years.

You've played a key role in scaling businesses, like the growth spurt at MyCamper (and it’s being recognized by the Financial Times). What strategies do you believe are most effective for scaling startups in today's dynamic ecosystem?

Create a structure of ‘fail fast’. There’s no beaten path in innovation. You experiment, you gather data, and based on data you pivot or proceed. With my last company, we were nimble, data-driven. We made calls based on what the numbers showed us, not on gut feel. And it worked. Create that structure where fast failure is not just accepted but expected.

What drives me has evolved. It used to be about proving myself, chasing the next milestone. Now, as a father, my priorities have shifted. It’s about creating a stable, happy environment for my kids. They’re my ‘why’ now. And this journey has reshaped my view on success. It's deeper, more personal. Success at Minc, for me, will be about bringing that sense of stability, of possibility, to every entrepreneur who walks through our doors.
